(What a time for me to start writing again…eek, this is rather long)

A week ago, a blog post has been popping up on my newsfeed from both believers and nonbeliever friends called “Men Prefer Debt Free Virgins without Tattoos”. Lori Alexander of The Transformed Wife is the author of this post as well as thousands of other posts. Based on Titus 2:3-5, she writes with the purpose of mentoring “younger women to be sober, love and obey their husbands, love their children, be chaste, discreet, good, and keepers at home.” I have never heard of her before but she has quite a following with over 80,000 followers on Facebook. The article itself has been commented, shared, and reacted for tens of thousands of times and it has created quite a firestorm on the internet. Open Letters from a Sower – Inspired by the Parable of the Sower

I was reminded and reread the Parable of the Sower recently. This parable is located in Matthew 13:1-23, Mark 4:1-20, and Luke 8:4-15. This is the first of many parables that Jesus told. There is some importance to this parable as well, for understanding why Jesus use parables and understanding the meaning of this parable helps us understand the rest of the parables: “Do you not understand this parable? How then will you understand all the parables?” (Mark 4:13)

Human beings have an interesting fascination with abundance and wealth. In many parts of our culture, success is measured by how many profits you make. Holiday seasons are polluted with the chants of consumerism, as sales and commercials tell us to get more stuff. Even this past February, the Lunar New Year was celebrated throughout the world. Why Won’t God Heal Amputees?

Let’s be honest: No one likes to answer tough questions, specifically when they make us feel at a loss for an answer. Our pride tells us that it is an exploitation of our credibility or our witness if we are unable to answer objections towards what we believe. We have imaginations of being mocked as fools. It is considered one of the main reasons why some Christians are afraid to share their faith and would hesitate to do so because they think they are “not ready” or “unworthy”. In other cases, some people would provide any answer to convince others (and might I dare say, themselves) that they are not baffled. They supply answers that are either unsound in human reason or a tactic of avoidance instead of answering the question directly. In my opinion, one of the worst arguments that one can use is to simply hide behind the word “faith,” thinking that it is a sufficient answer lacking no additional thought. In reality, it creates the impression that Christians don’t examine the validity of their beliefs, and act stubbornly rather than believe in truth for the sake of being true.

Hey everyone,

I wrote a short article at my school’s newspaper Voices section about Christians and the use of profanity. I re-post the article on here so that those who don’t get our newspaper can read it. I’ve made some small edits and additions from my original copy and the one in the paper because there were some minor mistakes that exists in the paper or because I wanted to convey a little bit more. I probably could have written more, but there was a word count limit and I had to get some of my main ideas down to about 800 words. Even though I specifically focus on curse words, I believe that some of the arguments and principles that I write here can be applied in other expressions. What is Fasting?

Being on break from school gives me the opportunity of doing some self study on different subjects or topics and having a blog like this lets me write about them. When thinking about Christian practices and disciplines, the one that I am least familiar with is the practice of fasting. Of course, I know the basics of fasting (abstain from eating and drinking or some other thing, usually relating to prayer), but I do not fully understand the aspect of it, specifically like how on decides to start fasting, how often, etc. So without further ado, this is my personal study on fasting.
