I’ve been binge watching some The West Wing this past summer. If you don’t know what The West Wing is, it is a critically acclaimed TV drama about the lives and services of fictional White House staff who work closely with the president.

Hey everyone,
I wrote a short article at my school’s newspaper Voices section about Christians and the use of profanity. I re-post the article on here so that those who don’t get our newspaper can read it. I’ve made some small edits and additions from my original copy and the one in the paper because there were some minor mistakes that exists in the paper or because I wanted to convey a little bit more. I probably could have written more, but there was a word count limit and I had to get some of my main ideas down to about 800 words. Even though I specifically focus on curse words, I believe that some of the arguments and principles that I write here can be applied in other expressions. If you have an opinion about it, leave a comment!

Have you read The Epistle of Mathetes to Diognetus? It is basically a letter like the Pauline Letters in the Bible (Galatians, Colossians, etc). We don’t know who wrote it; it’s not part of the Bible, but it is one of the earliest Christian works that apply the use of apologetics in writing to defend Christianity. Contents include the topics of manmade idols, the difference between the Jews and the Christians, and Jesus coming to the world.
